Lester Kauffman was elected President of BAC Local 5 PA in September 2005 thru present and previously had been appointed Field Representative for the York Chapter from June of 1999 thru August 2005. 

Les graduated in 1984 from the York County School of Technology with a degree in Masonry. In September 1987 Les joined the BAC in former Local 16 York, PA working as a Mason, Stone Mason and foremen for a Local BAC employer. In 1988 Les continued his education in the trades and received a PA State Certified Welding certificate. Les was elected in 1992 to the position of President for Local 16 and appointed in 1992 as a trustee to the York Chapter Pension, and Health Funds. 

Following the August 1994 merger and establishment of BAC Local 5 PA Les was elected to position of York Chapter Chair and Chairman to both Pension & Health Funds for the York Chapter. In June 1999 Les was appointed to the position of Field Representative for the York Chapter and Trustee to the newly merged Union Trowel Trades (UTT) Health Fund. Les became Co-Chair to UTT in 2003 and appointed to the International Healthcare Task Force committee for the International BAC. In 2005 Les was elected to the position of BAC Local 5 PA President, and elected Vice President for the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO from 2006 to present and has been a member of the I.U. BAC Executive Council Committee since 2010.

Les was appointed to the BAC International Apprentice Task Force committee and a Delegate to the I.U Convention since 2000. Les holds the position of Co-Chair to the Labor/Management Committee along with Local 5 Apprentice Committee.
